The UMSL's Tritons United:  Bystander Intervention education presentation will be in person & one-hour in length reviewing the following objectives: (a.) What is the UMSL Community Culture as it relates to Gender-Based Violence?  (b.) Definitions:  What is considered Gender-Based Violence?  (c.) Definitions:  What is a Bystander?  What is an Upstander?  (d.) How do I respond when I witness or experience Gender-Based Violence? The 5 D’s. (e.) Practice the 5 D’s:  Case Scenario Examples, (f.) How do I report it?  (g.) How do I get help or support?  What resources are available to me?

Maggie M. Gross, MSW, LCSW is a project director under the direction of Dr. Kimberly Werner, PhD at UMSL’s College of Nursing & Missouri Institute of Mental Health departments. 

 Currently she manages:

• 2 research grants involving gender based violence

• And coordinates the UMSL’s Coordinated Community Response Team called the Tritons United: Against Gender Based Violence.  We are both prevention/education as well as a reporting/response team. 

Maggie is a St Louis native who earned both her bachelor’s degree in psychology and master’s degree in social work from Washington University in St Louis, Mo.

She has 15 years plus experience providing psychotherapy services and community referrals as a licensed clinical social worker, a certified substance abuse counselor, and a clinical member of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA).
